EXPLANATIONS

USDA zones are zones of average minimum winter temperatures, e.g. zone 7 or less is hardy pretty well anywhere in the UK, zone 8 is hardy also although some plants may need some winter protection in areas of cold or exposure, zone 9 will need winter protection unless in a particularly sheltered spot or position, zone 10 really should be indoors in the winter
